December 2017…

22 Dec

A great and busy month with many celebrations.
A month in which many people love to be a blessing to others and in which the poor are so blessed by receiving gifts.
We’re grateful to be part of this and to be a blessing to many.
The graduation ceremony of the 5 year old children, which is a big happening in Peru (called: ‘promoción’).
The women group doing a Christmas craft and Bingo
Churches, businesses and families are blessing the poor by handing out gifts, paneton (typical christmas bread) and chocolate milk. Often it goes a long with a show or festivity.

With about 300 people, we had a special meeting to celebrate Christmas and to close the year. Wit different acts, the beautiful video of the Brazos children (link) and the graduation of 12 adults who have finished their primary or secondary school.

What a weekend – Marriage and Baptisme

23 Nov

Fiorella and Joseph, part of our Brazos Abiertos church, got married last Saturday.
They lived together for 10 years and this day we could give them the blessing of God over their marriage.

Sunday, 7 people of our congregation got baptized! Each one of them has a beautiful testimony, which shows us
that God is at work in the lives of the people in our area that we may serve.

woking with children.

Open Day ‘The Creation’ – October 2017

13 Oct

Last week we had our ‘Open Day’. Which means that the children of Brazos Abiertos presented their work. It was all about ‘The Creation’.
The teachers, parents and children had done a wonderful job. We’re so proud of them, especially to see how they all have grown in creativity and how these little ones dared to step out and present their work.

Brazos Abiertos women present their products

4 Oct

Necklaces, bags, hats, home made jam and more….. our women have learned a lot these past months and that should be presented!

Last week we got a visit of a Fairtrade business from the Netherlands and Peru, who are interested in buying these products.

For some of our women presenting is something natural, for others it is something too scary, to get that much attention. But they did it and we’re so proud of these women who’re stepping out more and more.

One of the women is facing a hard time at home, because of violence at home. She had a big smile on her face and shared: ‘this encourages me to keep on going’.

Back Home

26 Oct

Dear friends and family,
We are back home’! After saying goodbye to everybody and a long journey, it was good to come home in Lima, where already William was waiting for us to load all our 10 suitcases into his van.

It was a warm homecoming! The people around us are very happy that we are back as they had missed us a lot (and we them ofcourse) … .. The various meals we were offered testified from the warm and hospitable culture here in Peru. (How will Jordi ever loses his excess pounds … ..)

The children have taken their familiar places on school again. Hanna started Fetzer and loves it. She says that she pretty much understands the English although she often needs the help of her brothers

The Furlough…..
We look back on our furlough as a very lovely and blessed time, above expectations. We enjoyed and could fill up our tanks with all the contacts with family, friends and others. The kids had a great time at the Dutch school and we were happy to work part-time as well. We were able to give so much, just by telling our story during the presentations. We were so grateful for their warm welcomes and contacts. We have taken it as a precious gift in our hearts. Additionally, we could welcome 6 more sponsors for children, fantastic! Sayuri (pictured above right) was delighted with her doll, the first one ever, which she received from her new sponsor.

Women at work
In the past months, our volunteers have continued their work with the mothers, which has gone very well. A point of gratitude!

So three months ago, we left the women with a somewhat ‘burdened heart’ behind with a designer, who was just starting a project with them. The results were presented last Wednesday and it was superb! 12 Women have worked very hard the last weeks to make their own designed jewelry. Presenting it, was super scary for them, but they did it! The results are impressive; Frieda and Jeanette (from the Fair Trade company)who visited us were deeply impressed and placed a big order. Hard work was rewarded. And not only that, this whole process has done a lot with the self-esteem of these women, and that is actually the most beautiful.
Love, blessings and warm greeting from Lima!

The end of a schoolyear

8 Jan

It was a very rich month, because off the end of the schoolyear. In Peru this also means that at the end of the schoolyear and that’s not going to just happen. As everywhere a Party belongs with the necessary food, also in this case. Thus we had the promotion party for 5 year olds. They leave and go to a regular school. 2 of them were 3 year with us in Brazos Abiertos. With 2 buses full of kids and family members we have been to the beach. This is not far from here. Yet it was for about 80% the first time they were there. (more…)

A Good Year!

31 Dec

Together in the garden

Last year 2009 was a good year, says Jordi Bosch, chairman and sent out missionary of the Shailoh foundation. As a small foundation we received more than 37.000 euro and with that we were able to do a lot of good! We were blessed to experience the successful finish of the first year University of Reyes from the Little Drop project.

Also the various projects such as the financing of the library for the refuge center for street children in Lima and the purchase of a cow for Formando Vidas were enough reason for gratitude. God is good! Also the Bosch family were allowed to experience the provision of God in their work with the children at risk in Bogota, Colombia.

Sometimes living out of donations can be a bit stressful for missionaries, but also in that area God proved Himself faithful. We’re looking forward to another year (our 8th already), which already presents new and big ideas.

The Bosch family is preparing themselves to move to Peru at the end of the year to start a ministry for street children and help to set up a base for Youth with a Mission. Also we hope and pray that we will be enabled to bless more and more youth through our Little Drop project. I want to thank everybody for their support and prayers for our work and I hope we may count on your support in the future. God’s blessings, Jordi Bosch
